An important objective of Uptown Dance Company is to make the art of dance accessible for all.  UDC’s various outreach and scholarship endeavors support this mission.

For three years the pre-professional company hosted The Sunshine Kids and Ronald McDonald House at their in-house production of “The Nutcracker Suite” in a dinner theatre environment that included tea and treats.  The company has also taken the full production to St. Luke’s Hospital for the entertainment of the children, patients, and staff. Other children’s organizations that have enjoyed “Dance Infusion” and “The Nutcracker” include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston, Mission of Yahweh, Voyager (an after school program developed for underprivileged children) and DePelchen Children’s Center.  The pre-professional company has also performed at area nursing homes, including The Forum and The Treemont. In November 2009, UDC donated a performance for the Illumination Project to help raise awareness and money for HIV/AIDS.  Currently, several Uptown company members teach dance at local area public schools.
